NEW LOCAL DIRECTORIES FOR NYGNAN AND WARREN COMMUNITIES
CONNECTING LOCALS WITH SERVICES & SERVICES WITH LOCALS
Contact Incorporated, an organisation that supports rural, remote and isolated communities, has launched an online directory alongside its updated published directory to Warren and Nyngan locals. The directories will provide an instant link to services for children and families including disability services.
Nyngan and Warren Directories are handy fridge directories plus an easy and free online directory, connecting services with people who need them.
Regional locations can experience problems accessing assistance but according to a recent study ‘Mapping Rural and Remote Early Childhood Intervention Therapy Services’ geography wasn’t the only gap when it came to accessing services for families. The report found that therapists and families both have problems connecting to each other. Therapists listed getting information to families as one of their top four challenges when working in Regional and Rural locations. The families identified gaps in information about services and therapists as among their top concerns.
Contact Inc. CEO Sue Kingwill observed “Our experience supports this finding. We found that there is a substantial need in the community for local directories connecting people with relevant child and family services. ”
In addition to disability services for children any services that are connected to people and families have been included from childcare, medical assistance, help lines, and local sports organisations.
These local directories work alongside the “Who To Contact’ online directory where some services can offer assistance without having to be physically located near the people, through chat lines, phone and online and printed resources.
