The NSW Government’s Regional and Remote Early Childhood Education Strategy (2017-2022) has recently been announced. Contact welcomes that this Regional and Remote Early Childhood Education Strategy has been specifically “created in NSW to ensure that children in regional and remote areas have access to sustainable, high quality early childhood education and start school with the skills they need to engage in learning”.
Contact valued the opportunity to provide information towards the development of this important strategy, based on experiences gained through working directly within the community with isolated children, families to help address the negative impact of isolation and developing creative solutions responsive to locally identified needs.
We look forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government and the NSW Department of Education to progress this strategy and the development of approaches designed to meet the unique needs of rural and remote children and their families.
