Contact in Central Australia

Contact recently facilitated a range of activities in Central Australia with Megan Mitchell, National Children’s Commissioner and Dr Susan Nicolson, Director of Children’s Rights from the Australian Human Rights Commission.

We spent time with BushMob representatives in Alice Springs and then in partnership with Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation, travelled to the Utopia Homelands to meet with the Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation Board, children, families, community members and agencies in many different Homeland communities.

These visits were designed to enable an ability to consult and listen to the views of children and young people, families, community members and agencies to inform the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child about Australia’s progress of implementing Children’s Rights.
